Hi, I'm actually kind of new to the area, but I'm wondering why my tap water looks a bit cloudy or I guess 'murky' would be a good description.

Also, what should the cleanest water taste like, because this has a sort of musty taste/smell.

Thanks!

Thanks BellasSwanSong,

Tap water that appears cloudy could just contain excessive amounts of dissolved oxygen. As far as the taste/smell issue, that's probably related to fertilizer runoff from farm fields. This causes excess nutrients and makes algae grow faster. Algae compounds are the most common cause of unpleasant taste and odor in city water. Although the water may taste or smell bad to some people, it still meets all the requirements with the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act; and is therefore safe to drink. This algae issue occurs about once every six months in Huron County.
